Anastasia Sargent grew up on unceded Wampanoag land in Aquinnah, MA. She received her BFA from Art Center College of Design (Pasadena, CA) in 2018 where she graduated as class valedictorian. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Visual Art at Cornell University’s School of Art Architecture and Planning in Ithaca, NY.

Informed by personal, mythological, and historical narratives, my industrial and conceptually driven sculptural practice addresses themes of belief, extraction, patriarchy, addiction, and class. I create assemblage installations that relate to various networks of chain reactions. I’m interested in transmission and time, and I’m motivated by art’s potential to decelerate in our era of immediacy.
